We have “hightailer” specialty  worms, sometimes referred to as the “hobo worm” made for the store. They are a hot seller not only for Cedar Creek, but on a lot of other lakes around including Kentucky and Barkley. The tails on these worms are forked, and have a tendency to float up giving them a different action than most all other worms. They have won a tremendous number of tournaments the last few years on Kentucky lakes. The worms are available in store or you can order them online at Hightailer Baits.

A lot of people have been wanting to know where they can camp close to the lake. There is a new campground practically across the road from my business called Cedar Creek Resort & RV Park. They have both RV and tent camping. They also have a nice bath house, and water and electricity is provided at each camp site. Their telephone number is (606) 355-9293 or (859) 661-2025.

One of the questions I’m frequently asked, after a heavy rain and most other lakes are too high and muddy to fish, is “What’s the water condition on Cedar Creek? Is the water level too high, or too muddy to fish?”

.

My answer is always the same. The lake level on Cedar Creek doesn’t fluctuate much because they don’t hold water back for flood control or power generation like a lot of other reservoirs. Also, I’ve never seen the main body of the lake muddy. The creeks will become stained or even muddy, but never the lower end.

.

Recently after a torrential rain a local bass club had a tournament scheduled for Herrington Lake. They found the lake too high to even launch their boats, so they voted to drive to Cedar Creek and fish instead. The tournament was a success! A 20 plus inch bass was caught.
